Amid speculation over who President Barack Obama will nominate to the Supreme Court following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, as well as controversy over the pick stemming from the Republican Party’s resistance to selecting a nominee before the presidential election, there is now a new voice in the mix — University of Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh.
For a long time, Harbaugh has expressed an adoration for “Judge Judy,” or Judge Judith Sheindlin, and on Thursday he tweeted at Obama suggesting she would make a “wise and competent” candidate.
In 2013, Harbaugh attended a filming of Judge Judy with his father, visibly showing excitement about his front row seat, and his love of Judge Judy has been evident throughout his Twitter feed on various occasions, not just for his recent “nomination.”
Harbaugh’s Judge Judy comment comes after a string of controversial tweets to a variety of Southern schools, following backlash after Harbaugh hosted an open spring practice in Florida over the implications for recruiting among local high schoolers.
