The Ann Arbor Police Department arrested and charged 24-year-old Ashley McDonald with seven counts of felony assault for the shooting of a 26-year-old male Ann Arbor resident. The non-fatal incident occurred at 8 p.m. Sunday outside the victim’s home at the intersection of Arbordale Street and Pauline Boulevard.

According to witnesses near the crime scene, McDonald and the man were arguing when McDonald removed a handgun and shot him in the pelvic region. She left the scene in a silver Dodge Stratus. The victim was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital for serious injuries.

McDonald was arraigned July 19 on several counts including assault with a deadly weapon, assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, three charges of felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Currently in police custody, McDonald will attend a probable cause conference July 26.
