The University of Michigan is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a sexual assault committed Oct. 7 in Nichols Arboretum.
The announcement of a reward comes more than a month after a female student was running in the Arb on a Friday at 8 p.m. when a white male in his 20s punched and sexually assaulted her, according to the Division of Public Safety and Security.
Diane Brown, DPSS spokesperson, said, “This was a very serious and scary incident. We are very hopeful of getting this perpetrator off our campus. Thus far we have been actively investigating and following up on leads but are hopeful of generating more tips to lead to an arrest.”
The suspect was described as taller than 5’7”, of average build, with brown hair and wearing a black sweatshirt. According to DPSS, the man grabbed the student’s arm and pulled her to the ground. She was able to escape man and run away.
