Theta Delta Chi was founded in 1847 with the intention of serving as a literary society for its vested members, as the story goes.

Since that time, brothers of the fraternity’s University chapter have become stone cold crime fighters.

This identity became apparent at 12:30 a.m. Monday, when TDX brothers were able to apprehend two burglars during a party at their house on State Street, The Ann Arbor News reported.

One fraternity member noticed two men stealing from the TDX house, and subsequently asked one of the burglars to turn his pockets inside out, which produced several stolen items. Several brothers then checked their rooms to discover other items missing.

Members of TDX then confronted the two men and were able to detain one of them, who was ultimately taken to jail by the Ann Arbor Police.

The other suspect fled the scene — and was chased by a brother who was able to retrieve the stolen items despite being punched in the face during the chase. The suspect was also eventually caught by Ann Arbor Police.

Both are currently detained in the Washtenaw County Jail. Police say both men are 21. One is from South Lyon, Mich. and the other is from Chelsea.

Several TDX members declined comment on Monday evening.
