A female student was punched in the face and sexually assaulted while running in Nichols Arboretum on Friday at about 8 p.m.

University Police released a crime alert at approximately 12:20 am on Saturday saying the student was grabbed by the arm and pulled to the ground by an unknown man. The suspect was described to police as a white male of average build in his 20s, taller than 5’7″,  with brown hair and wearing a black sweatshirt. The student was running on the path near the Geddes Street enterance of the Arb when she was attacked. 

UMPD spokesperson Diane Brown said there is no more information at this time regarding suspects or progress of the investigation.
