The University of Michigan Division of Public Safety and Security received multiple reports of “suspicious incidents” near the Northwood V townhouses, according to a security bulletin.

DPSS reported incidents involved a subject asking for females to approach his car for help with directions. The suspect then made inappropriate comments of sexual nature.

Witnesses described the suspect as a clean shaven male with short, dark hair who was approximately 40 years old with no accent. He was driving a small, dark-colored sedan.

Northwood IV and V are University-owned townhouses located on North Campus. The bulletin said to report any information regarding the incident to (734) 763-1131 or dpss-safety-security@umich.edu.

“We value our partnership with our community and appreciate those who stepped forward to report this information,” the bulletin read. “We all play a role in ensuring community safety. If you see something that shouldn’t be there or someone’s behavior doesn’t seem quite right – say something.”

DPSS spokeswoman Melissa Overton did not immediately respond to request for comment.

This is a developing story.
