The Ann Arbor Police Department has determined a report that a student pedestrian was knocked unconscious and robbed last week was falsified.
The unarmed robbery was originally reported Nov. 11 at 5:10 p.m. on the 700 block of South State Street, between Hill and Monroe streets. The 21-year-old victim described being struck on the head by an unknown suspect.
The victim claimed that when she regained consciousness, her wallet and jewelry were missing, according to the original crime alert from the University of Michigan’s Division of Public Safety and Security. This information has since been found to be false.
Detectives are still investigating the motive behind the incident in an investigative report through the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office. Criminal felony charges for filing a false police report will be requested by the AAPD against the victim.
