Classes were cancelled this morning due to a power outage on central campus affecting classes in Angell Hall, Mason Hall, Tisch Hall, Haven Hall, Dana Building, CC Little, East Hall, West Hall, New Randall Lab, Hatcher Graduate Library, and Weiser Low-Rise.

Power is expected to be restored by 1 p.m. today according to University spokesperson Rick Fitzgerald, but classes are canceled for the remainder of the day.

The list of buildings impacted has been updated to also include: Museum of Art, the President’s house, School of Social Work, School of Education, Dennison Low-Rise, Kraus Building, Celements Library, and Tappan Hall.

The power outage is cited to have been caused by a short circuit in the control system at the U-M Forest Street substation. The University will look further into the outage to see the exact cause.

This is a developing story, check back for updates.
