Two men were arrested Saturday afternoon for lighting fireworks while publicly intoxicated, the Ann Arbor Police Department confirmed.

Four police cars at the intersection of William Street and Ashley Street were present at the scene to take the two individuals into custody.

AAPD Sergeant Jeff Tabeling said multiple officers arrived to address some witnesses’ reports of the men carrying a loaded firearm. While Tabeling could not confirm the allegation, he said city police had dealt with the suspects before.

“While I can’t say much … let’s just say these are two individuals who should not have been publicly intoxicated,” he said.

No charges have been pressed yet against either.
