After successfully caring for a plant, I decided to take on the responsibility of caring for a full-on animal. Whether this was a brilliant idea or not depends on who you ask. My dad would almost certainly say “no”; my mom would also say “no” (yet later be caught snuggling up with my furry friend); and my ADHD boyfriend would say “yes,” a thousand times “yes, yes, yes,” as he now has someone to entertain him 24/7. While I do feel as though my cat has stolen the attention of my household, she has also stolen my attention from anxiety. Luna, my four-month-old kitten, has comforted me in many ways and will play a large part of getting me through this school year.
