On Saturday March 16, reports of an active shooter spread around campus. Multiple rumors about shooter whereabouts and student injuries were spread by students via social media and texts.Thankfully, the shooter report and those rumors were false, but it nevertheless shook the student body.

How does communication between a university and its students break down during an emergency? On this episode of the Daily Weekly, we will talk to students who were present at the vigil and an expert in information cascades to understand just how Saturday’s incident came to be.
