I am not pigmentally challenged

I bleed in color

Dream vivid dreams

And leap from slumber

Singing songs that make the rainbow

Quiver at dusk

We laugh in yellow

Hues, loud, sunny and mellow

We celebrate the dawn with prayer

Our exhaustion with conversation

Greet the setting sun

With dances in golden hues

We are pigmented through

And through, thoroughly bleeding

Truth into the course of history

Harmony is our response

To pain and to sorrow

Community is our riposte

I am not pigmentally challenged

Like this ball of earth

My skin is sunburned

My motile soul, liquid life of me

Is the blues of funerals past

And joyfull greens of babies born
