Outside Gov. Rick Snyder’s private Ann Arbor apartment Wednesday evening, protesters gathered to beat the drum for the embattled Michigan governor’s resignation over his handling of the ongoing water crisis in Flint.
The president’s visit came in response to a letter written by 8-year-old Flint resident Mari Copeny, also known as “Little Miss Flint,” for her work raising awareness of her community’s plight. Copeny requested to meet Obama while she was visiting Washington D.C. to attend a congressional hearing on the water crisis in April. Obama instead answered her letter by announcing last week that he would travel to Flint to meet with city residents and local and state leaders.
President Barack Obama will visit Flint next Wednesday in response to a request by 8-year-old Flint resident Mari Copeny, also known as “Little Miss Flint.” Copeny has been working to bring attention to the Flint water crisis and had asked to see Obama on a trip she took to Washington D.C.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette (R) announced Wednesday one Department of Environmental Quality official, one former DEQ official and one Flint laboratory and water quality supervisor will be charged in connection with the ongoing Flint water crisis.
FLINT -- Chelsea Clinton, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s daughter, followed her mother’s path with a visit to Flint on Thursday. While there, she toured the Hurley Children’s Center and the United Association Local 370, the local section of the plumbing and pipefitting union.
