An armed robbery occurred at BTB Burrito on South State Street early Sunday morning. According to a press release from the University of Michigan’s Division of Public Safety and Security, the incident took place around 2:30 a.m.

A suspect, described as a male wearing a gray jacket and a camouflage mask, reportedly robbed BTB at gunpoint before driving away in a silver Chevy Malibu. At the time of the robbery, the restaurant was open to customers.

The Ann Arbor Police Department is still investigating the incident. When contacted for comment, Ann Arbor Police Sgt. Michael Dortch said AAPD cannot provide further details besides those mentioned in the press release. Dortch could not confirm whether money was stolen during the robbery.

Adam Lowenstein, the owner of BTB, said in an interview with The Daily he hopes the investigation will be able to identify the suspect in the robbery.

“It’s a really frustrating and unfortunate situation that makes it hard on our employees,” Lowenstein said. “Hopefully we can catch the person that came in and broke all of our feelings of safety.”
