Purse stolen from student near campus

Where: The corner of William and Maynard streets.

When: Sunday at about 10:45 p.m.

What: A female student had her purse stolen by a suspect while walking, the Department of Public Safety reported. After taking the purse, the suspect jumped into a dark colored two-door vehicle waiting down the street. The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old with scruffy facial hair and a blue hooded sweatshirt. DPS spokeswoman Diane Brown said the incident was similar to other recent robberies.

“There have been a handful of similar incidents in nearby off-campus areas in the last couple of months,” Brown said.

The incident is under investigation.

Drum stolen from in front of building

Where: Revelli Hall, 300 Block of E. Hoover Ave.

When: Sunday at about 4:45 p.m.

What: An alumni band member’s red snare drum was stolen from the exterior of the building, DPS reported. He left the drum unattended outside of the building because it was locked. After leaving for a while, he returned to find the drum gone. The drum is valued at about $200.
