The Order of Angell, an elite club of campus leaders at the University of Michigan, released the names of its 116th class to The Michigan Daily on Monday.

The Order, initially named “Michigamua,” was created in 1902 by former University President James Burrill Angell. The group selects, or “taps,” no more than 25 rising seniors from a diverse array of student organizations and athletic teams on campus.

The Order of Angell changed its name in 2007 from “Michigamua” to further itself from its controversial past. Tapped students are campus leaders with diverse experiences and are expected to give back to this school.

“Although we do not represent all the leadership that exists on campus, this year’s class of 22 leaders will continue the mission to bridge campus divides, promote pride for the University, and unite our campus in all its breadth of diversity,” reads the press release sent to the Daily.
