Update: At 4:30 p.m. a University alert said the emergency situation has been resolved.

At 3:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, the University’s Department of Public Safety and Security reported a fire at the Michigan League located on 911 North University. A University Emergency Alert was sent at 3:15 p.m. to students, faculty, and staff.

DPSS advises people in the area to take alternative routes to avoid the League as nearby roads have been closed.

Teresa Oesterle, Administrative Director of DPSS, said there have been no reported injuries related to the fire at this time. Oesterle said University of Michigan Police Department officers are still investigating the area, but they do know there was construction being done on the third floor of the League that could have been related to the fire.

As of Wednesday morning, Oesterle said the fire was accidental and started on the exterior roof due to soldering that was done on a gutter.

This is a developing story. Stay with The Michigan Daily for updates.
