DETROIT — Michigan beat Michigan State, 3-2, at Joe Louis Arena to capture the 2011 Great Lakes Invitational title.

Sophomore defenseman Kevin Clare scored the game-winning goal at 11:44 of overtime to claim the championship and topple the Spartans. Junior forward Kevin Lynch scored a goal with less than one minute left in regulation to tie the game and send it to overtime.

The win gave the Wolverines their second consecutive GLI title.
