Families and volunteers visit the over 60 cars during the sixth annual Caden’s Car Show at C.S Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan Saturday.

On Sunday morning, around 150 kids, family members and more than 200 volunteers gathered on top of the parking garage at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital at the University of Michigan for the sixth annual Caden’s Car Show. 

The car show takes place every year during the summer and is preceded by a fundraiser the Friday before the show. Full Throttle, an organization focused on congenital heart research, raised around $68,000 dollars this year.

City Council falls one short vote to override Ann Arbor Mayor Christopher Taylor’s veto on issues regarding the November 2019 election ballot Monday.

On Monday, Ann Arbor City Council discussed an override of Mayor Christopher Taylor’s veto of a resolution that would put an initiative on whether or not the city’s elections should be partisan on the November 2019 election ballot. The council ultimately fell one vote short of the eight votes necessary to override the veto.

The Ann Arbor Farmers Market celebrates its 100th birthday this summer.

This summer, the Ann Arbor Farmers Market is celebrating its 100th birthday. Over the past century, the farmers market has become an Ann Arbor staple with 124 stalls open on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the summer. The outdoor shop also includes Kindlefest, a holiday market open only in December.

Goatscaping takes place on two of Gallup Park's islands.

For the past three weeks, Ann Arbor has been using a more unorthodox landscaping method: goatscaping. Ten goats placed on two of Gallup Park's islands have been conducting brush management to prevent invasive species from entering the area.

Democratic presidential candidates Jay Inslee and Elizabeth Warren both visited Detroit on Tuesday. Inslee has been governor of the state of Washington since 2013 and has focused his campaign on environmental issues. Warren, a Massachusetts senator, has created a progressive campaign focused on rebuilding the middle class and fighting corruption.

On Tuesday morning, about 70 people gathered in the Michigan League for “Branches from the Same Tree: A U-M Town Hall on the Integration of Arts, Humanities, and STEMM.” The event focused on discussing how to best work towards a more integrative environment between the different academic communities on campus.

The campus-wide town hall was hosted by the University of Michigan President’s Office, Provost’s Office, ArtsEngine and Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities in partnership with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.
