The University of Michigan Central Student Government hosted its third sober tailgate Saturday on Elbel Field in an attempt to prevent alcohol-related incidents during late-starting football games. 

The event was coordinated by LSA sophomore Grant Rivas, CSG’s chief programming officer, who said student safety is the first consideration with a 3:30 p.m. kick off time like the Michigan vs. Colorado game.

On Thursday evening, Students for Hillary gathered in Weill Hall to attract new recruits and discuss its voter registration events at the University of Michigan campus.

At the event, members emphasized the importance the University has in this election, saying the campus could be a large enough presence to maintain Michigan as a blue state.

Symon Sanders, former national press secretary for Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, was scheduled to speak at the meeting but could not due to technical issues.

The University of Michigan received a $3.9 million grant from the National Institue of Health to fund its musculoskeletal research, a program which involves several schools including the School of Dentistry, the School of Public Health and LSA on Aug. 30.

Musculoskeletal work involves the way the muscles, skeleton, tendons and more relate to one another and work together.
