The Michigan women's lacrosse team overcame large momentum swings to topple Louisville

It was like the flip of a switch. For one stretch, there would be five goals from both teams in a span of two minutes. The next, there would be scoring droughts that lasted nearly twice that amount of time. 

The Michigan women’s lacrosse team (3-1) had to stay mentally focused to eventually come out on top, 15-11, over Louisville (2-2) in a sporadic game.

Most track and field spectators look forward to the fast-paced 200-meter dash or the competitive 4x400-meter relay. However, on Saturday, the athletes on the inside of the track were the ones to watch. 

For Michigan, several athletes broke personal records in the men's shot put, weight throw and pole vault, in addition to women’s shot put and high jump. At women’s weight throw, two throwers achieved their career bests and broke the school record.

The Michigan men’s tennis team (15-6 overall, 6-3 Big Ten) defeated Wisconsin (9-9, 3-5), 5-2, with both Tishman and Schalet winning their respective matches. The seniors also both won their doubles matches, in which Tishman paired up with sophomore Harrison Brown and Schalet with freshman Andrew Fenty.

The Michigan women's gymnastics team won its sixth-straight Big Ten Championship last weekend.

The Wolverines capped off a successful year of conference play with a strong performance at the Big Ten Championships at Rec Hall in State College. They came away with two gymnasts tied for the all-around award as well as the program’s sixth consecutive Big Ten trophy.

Brienne Minor and Kate Fahey know how to lead by example.

The two seniors teamed up in doubles play for the Michigan women’s tennis team’s (7-4 overall, 3-0 Big Ten) match with Iowa (8-6, 0-2) on Sunday. Minor and Fahey were the first to finish their doubles match, defeating their opponents, 6-2, after Minor sealed the deal with a swinging forehand volley on match point.

Freshman Patrick Maloney keyed a victory for the Michigan men's tennis team over Michigan State on Wednesday.

Michigan (8-2, 1-0) came away with a 6-1 victory over the Spartans Wednesday night, starting off Big Ten play on the right foot. Sophomore Mattias Siimar came into the match with a five-game win streak at No. 1 singles, along with freshman Andrew Fenty at No. 2 singles and No. 3 singles.

The in-state rivalry between the two schools made things that much more interesting.

Mira Shane made sure the Big Green worked for all of their goals. She had a season-high 16 saves in Sunday’s matchup, a game that saw the Wolverines come away with an 11-10 victory after a weather-induced delay, a full 60 minutes of regulation and two overtimes.
