Students chalked the Diag early Wednesday morning with messages in solidarity with black students on campus including phrases like “Black Lives Matter” and “white silence is a violence.” The students also posted fliers in Mason and Angell Hall, which feature positive messages along the same theme.

During their final meeting of the academic year, the University of Michigan Board of Regents discussed issues including construction, faculty appointments and the new multicultural center in front of more than 60 attendees in the Michigan Union Wednesday afternoon.

The regents approved three new deanship appointments at Thursday’s meeting, including Lynn Videka, Carol Bradford and Thomas Finholt.

The University of Michigan announced a $3 million contribution from Regent Mark Bernstein and his wife Rachel Bendit toward the new building on Central Campus that will house the Trotter Multicultural Center. The announcement and vote to name the $10 million facility — which was approved for construction in December — Bernstein-Bendit Hall came at Thursday’s Board of Regents meeting.

Angela Dillard, associate dean for undergraduate education, gathered with about 20 students on Monday in the LSA Student Government office to update attendees on the most recent draft of LSA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategic plan. The goal of the meeting was to inform members of LSA-SG, in addition to other students involved in the formation of the plan, of the plan’s progress.
