The set teetered back and forth late in the second set, with neither team giving in. Rutgers had built an early lead, but the Michigan volleyball team fought back to gain a late lead. Then, sophomore outside hitter Paige Jones broke the tension as she secured the win with a kill — putting the Scarlet Knights at an insurmountable deficit.
Jones bolstered the Wolverines offense and recorded her fourth consecutive double-double as Michigan topped Rutgers in 3 sets, (25-14, 25-23, 25-14).

In the first 10 minutes of the Michigan women’s soccer game against No. 23 Penn State, junior midfielder Sarah Stratigakis passed the ball to fellow midfielder sophomore Meredith Haakenson. Haakenson capitalized on the opportunity and fired a shot into the upper right corner of the goal — scoring the only point of the game as the Wolverines won, 1-0.

Anna Spieker has mastered staying collected under pressure.
As the clock began to count down in regulation on Friday, the sophomore goalkeeper saved a shot from No. 3 Connecticut’s senior forward Seva Boker. During the block a Michigan defender fouled resulting in a corner penalty — putting Spieker and the Wolverines’ defense to the test.

With three minutes left on the clock, tensions ran high as the Michigan women’s soccer struggled to clear the ball. Seconds later, the Fighting Irish buried a cross and scored the game-winner, leaving the stadium awestruck (0-1).
Up to that point, goalkeeper Hillary Beall’s two saves characterized the game. She skillfully blocked each of Notre Dame’s shots, even tipping one just above the net. Supported by a strong back line, Beall led the Wolverines into halftime tied 0-0 — still in the game despite a slow offense.

Michigan was so dominant, in fact, that none of its boats lost a race. The sixth-ranked Wolverines swept three ACC opponents — including two ranked teams — on Lake Monticello in Virginia. Michigan dispatched No. 10 Virginia during morning races and defeated No. 17 Syracuse along with Duke during the afternoon session of racing. The wins provided a promising start to the spring season.
