An armed man wearing a mask climbed into the window of a house and robbed two residents at gunpoint on the 900 block of South State Street at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, according to a crime alert from the University's Division of Public Safety and Security.

 

“An unknown man climbed in a window and confronted a resident while brandishing a handgun,” the alert, sent 9:30 Tuesday morning, read. “The suspect left the house after robbing two residents."

16-year-old Qi-Xuan "Justin" Tang, an Ann Arbor high school student, was struck by a car and killed Tuesday morning around 7:20 a.m. He was struck by a car while crossing Fuller Road near Huron High School, according to Ann Arbor Police and Ann Arbor Public Schools.

The Washtenaw County Public Health Department has confirmed a case of measles in the county after an individual received medical treatment for the virus Oct. 13.

The individual was treated at the University of Michigan East Ann Arbor Health and Geriatrics Center.

The Public Health Department advised people who were in the center on Oct. 13 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to receive the measles vaccination from their primary health care provider or certain pharmacies if they are not already fully vaccinated.

The undefeated, third-ranked Michigan football team may have had a bye-week this past weekend, but head coach Jim Harbaugh certainly wasn’t taking it easy.

On a recruiting trip to El Cerrito High School in California, Harbaugh attended a football game and worked on the ‘chain gang’ — assisting officials with the down markers — in exchange for a steak sandwich, the Detroit Free Press reported.

As part of their second Ann Arbor location opening on Eisenhower Parkway, Blaze Pizza hosted a giveaway of up to 1,000 free pizzas between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday. If 1,000 were given away, the restaurant would make a total donation of $5,000 to Maize & Blue Cupboard at University of Michigan and Swoop’s Student Food Pantry at Eastern Michigan University to help feed students in need.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will campaign Monday in Detroit — one day before Michigan’s voter registration deadline — in her first visit to the state since Aug. 11.

The Clinton campaign announced the event Thursday morning and said in a press release that more details on the location and time would be announced later.

Clinton is expected to emphasize the importance of registering to vote as well as discuss her economic vision for the United States and its impact on Michigan, according to the release.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) campaigns to be the democratic presidential nominee at the Crisler Center the night before the Michigan democratic primary, on  March 7, 2016.

The Hillary Clinton campaign announced Tuesday morning that U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) will be visiting the University of Michigan Thursday at 1 p.m., with doors opening at noon, to campaign on Clinton’s behalf.

 

Sanders is expected to touch on topics including sustainability, criminal justice reform, raising the minimum wage and making public colleges and universities tuition-free in his speech, according to a press release.
