The Urban Outfitters on State Street is being replaced by a Target.

Grocery shopping will soon be steps away from the University of Michigan with the opening of a Target in the former location of Urban Outfitters on State St., Target spokesperson Jill Lewis confirmed in an email to The Michigan Daily.

“We are excited to bring an easy, safe and convenient shopping experience to new guests in the community with this new Target store,” Lewis said.

Michigan Medicine will begin vaccinating employees Monday after receiving 1,950 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Monday morning, Michigan Medicine spokesperson Mary Masson confirmed in an email to The Michigan Daily.

“Michigan Medicine has mobilized its best and brightest faculty and staff, many of whom are leaders in their respective fields, to develop and execute a robust vaccine distribution program,” Masson wrote.

The Michigan Daily has elected a new Editor in Chief and group of Managing Editors to lead the paper in its 130th year. Staff-wide elections chose the Editor in Chief, while each section held individual elections to determine their managing editors. 

The Daily’s management desk chose the new managing editor, The Daily’s first ever digital managing editor and a new editor of Statement, the paper’s weekly magazine. The management desk also approved Access and Inclusion as a new section in the newsroom.

The University of Michigan Board of Regents met virtually Thursday afternoon to approve the hiring of Guidepost Solutions, who will help the University enact WilmerHale's suggestions.

The University of Michigan Board of Regents gathered virtually Thursday afternoon to announce the hiring of Guidepost Solutions — a New York-based consulting firm — to help implement recommendations from WilmerHale’s report on former Provost Martin Philbert’s sexual misconduct. The regents also said goodbye to outgoing administrators and approved a new president for the University of Michigan Health System.

Ann Arbor District Library will close all locations for at least two weeks beginning Sunday due to positive COVID-19 tests among library staff and family, library director Josie Parker announced in a blog post on Saturday. 

AADL, which had been offering books and other items at scheduled pickup times, is postponing pickups for two weeks with the option to reschedule after the reopening.

The spike in COVID-19 cases among University of Michigan students isn’t the result of in-person classes, but of social gatherings that violate public health guidelines, school leaders said at a panel Tuesday.

Jimena Loveluck, Washtenaw County health officer, joined the U-M administrators to discuss the stay-in-place order for U-M undergraduates announced earlier in the day.
