As fashion month comes to a close and the showgoing glitterati recovers from a non-stop jaunt around the runways of New York, London, Milan, and Paris, it seems an oasis of the Midwest was missing from this — and every — fashion calendar. Ann Arbor has never been known as an international fashion capital, and we may never see the day it does. That’s not to say fashion is missing from South campus to Kerrytown — it’s here. We found it.
For our second annual Fall Fashion Issue, writer Allie Taylor surveyed the style savants of campus on their fashion icons and inspirations; Style Editor Anay Katyal talked to the owners of Ann Arbor’s main menswear destination, Today Clothing; and for our shoot, we combined our stylist’s wardrobe staples with a handful of seasonal selects from Ann Arbor’s top boutiques — Bivouac, v2v, and Ayla & Co. Our style issue combines A2’s genuine oddity with its chic sensibility, offering readers the New Age Old School.
