This may seem like an obvious answer to the question “What is one thing you have to do before graduating from Michigan?” but hear me out. Going to a football game doesn’t mean spend hours tailgating and then nap until dinner. It doesn’t mean go for the first quarter and then leave because it’s too hot/cold/windy/loud. It doesn’t mean staying until the fourth quarter but bouncing five minutes early because Michigan is playing like a PAL football team. When I say before graduation you have to go to a football game, I mean really go to a football game. I promise you’ll love every second.
Any gameday at Michigan is a day-long experience, and at some point in these next four years you should experience all of it. Wake up at the crack of dawn and immediately change into the most obnoxiously maize and blue ensemble. Spend two hours atop any surface that is elevated at least one foot off the ground. Pump your fist and scream along to the fight song, even for the fifteenth time the band plays it. Dance along and sing “Mr. Brightside” until your voice cracks with the effort. And when it’s all over, win or lose, make the trek back home and feel grateful that you are apart of something as wonderful and special as the University of Michigan community. Then go to bed, get some sleep and get ready to do it all again next week.
