The Wolverines entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 3 seed and were facing second-seeded Ole Miss. To add to the uphill battle, No. 21 Michigan had to play in Oxford, Miss. in front of a crowd rooting hard against the maize and blue. The Wolverines also traveled to the tournament with only six active players – the exact number needed to play a dual – and no substitutes because of one season-long injury and one illness.

Looking at the 4-0 score, it would appear that the Michigan men’s tennis team was sent home from the Big Ten Tournament in shameful fashion. But the Wolverines’ match with Illinois was anything but a blowout.

The Big Ten women’s tennis championship is staying in Ann Arbor for the third-straight season.
With a 5-2 victory over Ohio State on Sunday, the Wolverines (10-1 Big Ten, 17-6 overall) clinched a share of this year’s title. Playing on its home courts, Michigan dropped just two matches, both singles, while earning a sweep of the doubles point.

After beating Penn State 6-1 on Friday in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines (16-6, 9-2) readjusted their season goal: beat the Buckeyes in Columbus and win a Big Ten title.
