Women's soccer ready for showdowns against Iowa, Nebraska

Ranked nationally for the first time since 2005 and perched atop the Big Ten conference standings, the No. 22 Michigan women’s soccer team (3-0 Big Ten, 9-2 overall) will look to defend its home turf against Iowa and Nebraska this weekend at the U-M Soccer Complex.

Midfielder Coulson leaves Michigan to return to Britain

One of the Michigan men’s soccer team’s most recent arrivals is now its most recent departure. Freshman midfielder Luke Coulson has left the Wolverines to pursue a professional career in his native England. The team said Tuesday that the Manchester native would sign with a Premiership team Tuesday.

Wolverines defense displaying dominance

The 22nd-ranked Wolverines extended their shutout streak to five games, a program record, with a 3-0 victory over then-No. 14 Wisconsin, and are quickly becoming one of the nation’s best defensive squads. As a result, Michigan is ranked in the top-25 for the first time since 2005.

Michigan’s defense plays lights out at Minnesota

Michigan women’s soccer team relied on stout defense to shut out yet another opponent and record a victory. On Friday night, the victim was Minnesota, which fell 1-0 to the Wolverines in one of the more bizarre soccer games in recent memory.
