Club lacrosse to face D-I champs

BY DANIEL BERMAN

The Michigan men's club lacrosse team will host Johns Hopkins and Army in the Wolverine Showcase tonight, giving fans to get a sneak peek at this year's team before the competitive season begins in February.
But that's not the only reason to go to Elbel Field this evening.
Johns Hopkins and Army will again be two of the top teams in the country this season. Johns Hopkins is coming off its ninth National Championship and is one of the most storied programs in NCAA lacrosse history.

Lacrosse faces stiff competition this year

BY JOHN JUNCAJ

Justin Burgin knows top-tier competition when he sees it. The freshman defenseman was named to the First Team All-State prep lacrosse team this past spring, leading Novi Detroit Catholic Central High School to the state finals.

Burgin recently survived Michigan's club varsity lacrosse tryouts. Despite his obvious skills and prep success, the beginning of his college career proved to be intimidating.

Club lacrosse hungry entering 2007 season

BY SCOTT KANOFSKY

Brigham Young University may not seem like a common rival for most Michigan teams, but for the Michigan men's lacrosse team, last season's bitter end still lingers. The Cougars stood in the way of a trip to the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association semifinals last May.
There will be a chance for redemption this year in Ann Arbor.
"This will be the first game played at Oosterbaan against them," tri-captain Matt Hudson said. "Having them on our home turf is an advantage for us."
