Michigan baseball, running on all cylinders, looks to extend 10-game winning streak

The winds of change are blowing in the Big Ten. Not only will the Michigan baseball team (7-2 Big Ten, 21-14 overall) be looking to extend their 10-game win streak this weekend when it takes on Northwestern (4-8, 15-13), the Wolverines will also play Saturday’s game at historic Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.

Baseball earns 10th consecutive victory, defeats Notre Dame, 8-2

Tuesday, the Wolverines recorded their 10th-consecutive win, defeating Notre Dame 8-2 at Ray Fisher Stadium. The game featured a number of outstanding performances, like sophomore right-hander James Bourque, who worked a no-hitter into nearly eight frames.

Baseball earns second consecutive Big Ten sweep

After going five years without a Big Ten series sweep before sweeping Michigan State last weekend, Michigan (7-2 Big Ten, 20-14 overall) repeated the feat, as it handled Penn State in three consecutive games, 5-1, 3-2 and 8-1. With the sweep, the team has won nine games in a row.

Szkutnik’s strikeouts pace Wolverines

Friday night, sophomore pitcher Trent Szkutnik took to Twitter to tell his followers that he had just watched “Pitch Perfect”, a popular movie about a singing competition. It was fitting that just a few hours earlier, Szkutnik had shown that his pitches were working perfectly.
