Freshman quarterback Tate Forcier and sophomore wide receiver Darryl Stonum were announced as Big Ten Players of the Week after Michigan's 38-34 upset of Notre Dame Saturday. Forcier earned the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award after he finished with 310 total yards (240 passing, 70 rushing). Forcier threw two touchdown passes, including the game winner to senior wide receiver Greg Mathews with seconds left in the game, and also rushed for a touchdown.

Stonum earned the Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honor after returning a kick 94 yards for a touchdown. It was the first Wolverine kickoff return for a touchdown since Steve Breaston in 2005. In the third quarter, with Michigan up 24-20, Stonum also helped down a Forcier punt at the 1-yard line to give the Fighting Irish terrible field position during a Michigan-dominated quarter.
