Coleman announces retirement in July 2014

At the University's Board of Regents meeting Thursday, University President Mary Sue Coleman announced her intention to retire after her term expires in July 2014 without seeking a contract extension.
“Leading the University of Michigan is the most challenging and rewarding work of my career. It's a tremendous privilege and one that continuously energizes me,” she said at the meeting.

Regent Mark Bernstein, one of the newest members of the University’s Board of Regents, held a Twitter Town Hall to answer students’ questions. Topics ranged from renovations of the recreational sports facilities and the Michigan Union to college affordability — all answered in 140 characters or less.
Serious flooding at North Quad displaces students

Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning, a pipe broke at the North Quad Residential and Academic Complex and began flooding student living spaces, classrooms and common areas, resulting in the cancellation of classes and partial evacuation of the building.
