Report: NHL to cancel Winter Classic on Thursday

The National Hockey League plans to cancel its annual Winter Classic on Thursday, ESPN.com reported Monday. The outdoor game would’ve pitted the Detroit Red Wings against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium on New Year’s Day. The game is expected to be a victim of the ongoing labor dispute between the NHL and its player’s union, which has resulted in the cancellation of the NHL season to this point.

We are on the east side of London, which was chosen as the location of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games to help revitalize an industrial area that has become decrepit over time. Now, shiny, modern buildings and structures jut into the sky, beckoning the start of the Olympic Games and, hopefully, the start of a revitalized East London.
