Behind Lane’s heroics, Michigan advances to Oklahoma City

After falling to Louisiana-Lafayette in game two, 5-0, the Wolverines were able to come away with the victory in game three by a score of 2-1. With the win, Michigan will advance to the Women’s College World Series for the first time since 2009.

Michigan (12-9, 27-24) is currently tied with Illinois for fifth in the Big Ten standings. In order to qualify for the Big Ten tournament, the Wolverines must finish sixth or better in the standings, determined by winning percentages because of several game cancellations.

Michigan baseball, running on all cylinders, looks to extend 10-game winning streak

The winds of change are blowing in the Big Ten. Not only will the Michigan baseball team (7-2 Big Ten, 21-14 overall) be looking to extend their 10-game win streak this weekend when it takes on Northwestern (4-8, 15-13), the Wolverines will also play Saturday’s game at historic Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs.
Szkutnik’s strikeouts pace Wolverines

Friday night, sophomore pitcher Trent Szkutnik took to Twitter to tell his followers that he had just watched “Pitch Perfect”, a popular movie about a singing competition. It was fitting that just a few hours earlier, Szkutnik had shown that his pitches were working perfectly.

Maezes sparks Michigan’s series sweep of Spartans

Michigan headed to the Big Ten Championship

No. 3 Michigan (1-1 Big Ten, 11-2 overall) will travel to Minnesota for the Big Ten Championships on Friday and Saturday. The team portion of the competition will be held Friday night, with the individual competitions being held on Saturday.
Wolverines win one for Ballantine

After senior pitcher Ben Ballantine went down with a gruesome injury in the third inning, Michigan coach Erik Bakich gathered the team around him and offered up three simple words: “Win it for Ben.” The Wolverines did, dispatching Bowling Green, 2-0, Tuesday afternoon.
