The Daily celebrates its 122nd year of editorial freedom
BY SARAH SQUIRE AND STEPHANIE STEINBERG
Today, The Michigan Daily turns 122 years old. Over the past three centuries, student journalists have covered campus news that gained national attention like Salk’s breakthrough polio vaccine and sporting events like the epic No. 1 Michigan versus No. 2 Ohio State showdown in 2006.
Generations of student writers, photographers and designers have filled the Daily’s pages with content valued by the University community. With the turn of each decade, the Daily’s opinions, coverage and look evolved. In honor of our 122 years of editorial freedom, we have put together all of the Daily flags that have appeared at the top of our front page since 1890.
