The Daily remembers 9/11
BY STEPHANIE STEINBERG
Today marks a day that drastically changed our nation, University and many of our personal lives. While some of us were too young to remember all the details of the confusion, anger and disbelief that sprung from this day 10 years ago, for many of us, each minute is imprinted in our minds.
A decade ago, Michigan Daily staff — always quick to jump on breaking news — sat in the newsroom for hours before the TV unsure of what to do. While no number of news articles can adequately convey the tragedy and sorrow felt by the nation today, the current Daily staff has put together several stories in honor of 9/11.
On our website’s home page you will find vignettes about University community leaders who relate where they were when the towers fell as well as stories that explain how the day changed the University’s security and how different groups bonded together to support one another.
On Sept. 11, 2001, more than 15,000 students packed the Diag. At 8 p.m. tonight, there will be another vigil in the same spot to honor the individuals, including 18 University of Michigan alumni, who lost their lives 10 years ago today.
We hope to see you there,
