Dennis-- I'm not religious, but it actually is a proven scientific fact that human life begins at conception. You can find proof at http://nmhm.washingtondc.museum/collections/hdac/anatomy.htm.
Dr. Dianne Irving, in a scientific essay, described these stages: "Upon reading and understanding the accurate scientific facts of human embryology fully documented in these long-recognized international standards in professional sources, it becomes quite obvious that if the new genetically unique living human embryo, the individual human being/organism, begins to exist at the beginning of Stage One then there is no such thing as a "pre-embryo" or any similarly concocted "pre-embryo substitute" that supposedly exists after fertilization - even though these false scientific terms are still in use in some legislation, regulations, etc."- http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/irv/irv_123carnegiestages1.html

Even if it was a religious issue, I don't think it's consistent with the First Amendment to force those who are pro-life to pay for/ support something so against their beliefs.

Offering another option for poverty-stricken women is not only good common sense, it is good economic sense. Do your morals provide you with the salary to include the extra taxes required to pay for the welfare that this child will require for the first 18 years of it's life? As people from poverty-stricken environments have a greater chance statistically of becoming criminals, does your morality have the funds needed to provide possible tax dollars needed if that person goes to prison? Do you have the money needed to support the child so that the mother is not tempted to turn to a life of crime to feed it? Do you have the money needed to support the child as children in poverty-stricken areas also commonly attend failing school districts and would need countless hours of after-school programs to provide that person with a competitive education? In the end, please explain to me how saving a young woman, and the American tax payer, a little bit of hassle is such a bad idea? Unless the hard-core pro-lifers are willing to pay for the baby from their own pockets, they need to shut up.

Once again the wing nuts of the right wing triumph over the wishes of the majority of the American people. The idea the life begins at conception is not scientific fact; it is a matter of religious faith. The last time I looked the First Amendment still prohibts the establishment of a religious state. Let's keep it that way.

I have a right to own a gun. Now you lot need to pool up and buy me one. Go on.

Thank God for Stupak. At least somebody has the guts to say that killing children is not health care.

Stupak’s amendment to the Affordable Health Care for America Act (which the House passed Saturday), prohibiting funding abortions with federal dollars, preserves a long-standing legislative comprimise. Pro-abortion liberals are trying to use ‘health care reform’ as a vehicle to scuttle the historical prohibition against funding abortions with federal monies.

Stupak’s amendment is mainstream centrism, while attempts to create federal funding for abortions is liberal activism. ObamaCare is, in myriad ways, a trojan horse.

You are the ones who thought that Obama would stop the seas from rising and global warming to cease.

How does it feel to have him betray your principles so easily?

You've been sold a bill of goods by a fast-talker.
