Lloyd Carr was NOT forced out of his position. Although there was a lot of grumbling by certain fans about his recent bowl and Ohio State record, the Athletic Department in no way forced him out of the position. Oneof the great things about UofM athletics, is that the Athletic Department does not bend to outside forces, which prevents knee-jerk reactions to situations. Lloyd Carr actually wanted to retire after the 06 season, however, he stuck around because Henne, Hart, and Long all decided to stay for their senior years.
The main issue you can take with the athletic department's handling of Lloyd Carr's replacement, is not how Lloyd left, but how unprepared the athletic department was in their coaching search when he left. Especially since Lloyd had let them know that he was ready to retire very soon.
