Fortunately, with the BTB Party Bus, no South U. bar or munchies spot is too far away! And let's be honest, winter in Ann Arbor consumes the majority of the academic year and is miserable for everybody, no matter what side of the divide you live on, so a taxi is pretty much always preferred for late-night outtings, no matter the number of blocks traveled.
Another favorite get-home-from-the-bar adventure of mine--bumming rides with friendly delivery drivers, preferably of the pizza variety (don't forget to tip, of course). Oh, and I gotta say, Kerrytown housing is on the whole MUCH prettier and less run-down than all of South campus. Historic district, anybody? No need to kid ourselves on that point.

Additional bonus of life in K-Town: you'll never see an Elm street style beating at a Kerrytown party, but you *may* want to be concerned about being jumped from the bushes thanks too the lovely lack of street lighting and late-night wanderers that the Northern end of campus has to offer.
