Yes, don't be afraid. Just cancel the First Amendment. Who's going to stop you?
since city council members can no longer use their laptops to distract themselves when blaine coleman and mate start vaporing on their one and only topic ,the following link has been sent to them so they can at least amuse themselves by imagining a citizen almost as monomaniacal as blaine.
(also works for MSA members if they're unable to pass the well-warranted amendment...)
google: "the onion-say, anybody got something"
The First Amendment is for crybabies. The MSA may not have the right to violate it, but who's gonna stop them? If they don't want any talk about Palestinians, they can rule it "out of order" and call the police. Every time.
blaine coleman and his whatever , mozhgan savabiesfahini are notorious jew baiters and event disrupters who abuse the first amendment flagrantly...kudos if the MSA puts a cork in them...wish the ann arbor city council would do likewise.
Bad move by the MSA. If the comments are taking too long, shorten the amount of time that people are allowed to speak. Or allow student comments at the beginning of the meeting and community comments at the end. Cutting off comments completely is anti-democratic and contrary to the intent of the First Amendment and Michigan's Open Meetings Act, which protect the rights of the public to address government bodies - yes, that's you MSA.
Yes, I have signed up for my 5 minutes, and have spoken at MSA for boycott against Israel, the last apartheid state:
http://dearbornboycottsisrael.blogspot.com/2008/09/attempted-resolution-...
The Daily has uttered not one word against Israel's genocidal bombing of Gaza, or against Israel's starvation blockade of Gaza, which is ongoing.
Nor will you find, in any issue of the Daily, a single article about the effort to boycott Israel in the MSA.
The Daily, instead, declares, as fact, that " MSA meeting agendas were routinely derailed during the community concerns portion of the evening by local activists promoting their side of issues..."
This newspaper implies that even 5 minutes is too much, when speakers are "promoting their side of issues"-- all because of a few comments asking for the boycott of Israel.
Is there an ACLU on this campus? Does the First Amendment extend to this university?
ever since backing the right of nazis to march in skokie the ACLU seems to satand for "Active Colluders with the Loopy Unhinged "....
also...blaine...arent you a lawyer? cant you manage your own case? or have you been disbarred?...i gather youve been unsuccessfully shopping for other jobs, such a s bookstore clerk.
