you sir are an idiot. you are the problem not the solution. the system you criticize has won 4 major bowls in a row. including laying 48 on the favored sooners of oklahoma. when was the last time michigan gave such a bowl performance? 60 yrs ago.

Yeah, I'm going to have to say that this article was written rather haphazardly. To say that RR failed, even after you lose the career leading rusher and career leading passer, along with the backup QB, you're going to lose a few games even if you're loyd Carr.

Additionally, to say that the spread won't work in the Big Ten is a misnomer. Doesn't Oregon run the spread? Florida, the #2 team in the country runs the spread, and they aren't playing patsies in the SEC. Utah beat us with the spread. It's not the damn spread, it's the personnel to run the spread.

One could look at #1 Alabama and their disappointing season last year, only to turn around and compete for the National Championship.

Now, do you think we would have the same record if Pryor had shown up on the campus? Sheridan and Threet have hung in there, but are they truly spread QB's?

Weren't there 25 turnovers this year by the Wolverines, correct me if I'm wrong, but RR wasn't holding the ball when they turned it over FIVE times against Notre Dame.

Please feel free to remove your cranium from your anus when you feel like it.

Hail to the victors valiant
Hail to the conquering heros
Hail Hail to Michigan
The Champions of the future

On the positive side, I believe that Coach Rod will lead Michigan to national championship contention within 5 years. I think he has a great strategy for success and will eventually do all of us Wolverines proud. He needs time. We all need to remember that coaching Michigan is like goal tending for the Red Wings...you're either the hero or the goat. It's a hell of a hard job.

What does concern me, however, is the lack of judgment shown by some of his off field comments. I'm sure nobody is more frustrated and less satisfied than he is by this year's performance, however he needs to learn to keep the comments as professional as possible. Coach Carr or Bo would never tell the faithful to 'get a life'.

You and Mark May should get a room. I think a vast majority of players on this team would disagree with you, so don't feel too bad.

Go Blue!

Well Done Paul Wright, you have successfully publicly announced your complete ignorance of anything remotely regarding football knowledge. Congratulations.

Go Blue, Go Coach Rodriguez, Go Players
Continue working your butts off!
The real fans are 100% behind you!!!

Wow. WOW. This was really, really poorly researched. Paul, you're a fool. Maybe you have natural intelligence, but you did not use it here. You're a Michigan alum? You should know better than to write something with such strong opinion that you are completely uninformed about.

Yeah, the spread totally blows in the Big 10, which is why we kicked the crap out of those spread teams like Northwestern, Purdue, and Utah.

Thank goodness there are some real Wolverine fans out there.

As for the rest of you, Paul Wright included, with a completely new staff, new system, no real QB, and like 25 true freshman on the roster, what did you expect? Why don't you take a look at Rich Rod's coaching history? Rich Rod's teams historically have begun with losing records. (1-7-1 Glenville State, 3-8 WVU) Rich took Glenville to 3 CONSECUTIVE W. Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships (total of 4 during his tenure) & to the 1993 NAIA national championship, and is one of the most successful coaches in WVU history with 4 Big East Conference Championships & named Big East Coach of the Year in 2003 & 2005.

So please stop your whining after one lousy season. You people are probably the same idiots who carried around 'Fire Lloyd' signs after our 0-2 start last year. The "get a life" comment was not intended for all fans, but for the bunch of you who have been whining, complaining, and booing our team on the field. If you can't support the team during rough times, then don't support them at all. Give Rich Rod a chance.

GO BLUE!!!!!!

On the money. The palyers certainly were not in the physical condition of past teams. Understandably, it takes time for a new offensive system. Where is the good defense from last year? Why did we only recently sign a long term contract with Rodriguez? Roti '71

Rich Rodriguez started his coaching career at Michigan in January 08. He had two months to recruit with signing day the end of February. Meanwhile, he has nobody but Schilling that comes back on offense (that was a starter) and his defense is thin at best. Now.... some NUMNUTS writes an article bashing RR claiming his system prevents success!!! and the Editor publishes it. Pathetic really pathetic!!!!

Anybody who says this season defines U of M and RR is a complete bafoon! Did you see who we had to work with for QBs?? Did you not know that we had 5 offensive players go to the NFL after last season? If you said yes to the previous questions and still think this is the end of the road for RR and Michigan, you are a complete moron and should have your tongue and fingers cut off so you can no longer spread your ignorant opinions.

The Maize and Blue will certainly rise again under the coaching of RichRod. Cut the man some slack and let him execute a full off-season recruiting strategy and training program. Let him learn from this year's lessons and make the appropriate adjustments. He is too good a coach not to turn this thing around. Go Blue!!

All of you will eat your words When Coach Rod takes this team in 2 or 3 years to Big Ten and National Championships. Michigan fans are so fickle and spoiled it makes me sick. GO BLUE and we will dominate again, keep your pants on.

Paul, while I appreciate your letter and complete disregard for Rich Rods resume, I have to ask you to pull your head out and look at the big picture. Rod's track record has been unbelievable. His ability to implement an almost foreign system into every program and get the return on success is unmatched. His national recruiting abilities will pay off big come next year and year 3 and 4. I do understand your frustration. We all feel it. However, do me a favor, think and analyze before your write. Otherwise you make all Michigan fans look like stuck up babies. Be a proud Michigan Man. I am.

I have to agree. Mr. Rodriguez has made misstep after misstep which have belied any evidence of people skills. Three that come to mind most are:

1 - He handled his departure from WV very poorly. Pete Carrol could sneak out of LA on the eve of the UCLA game and the next day the fans would be talking about erecting a statue to honor him -- not death threats against his family.

2 - He called out the entire team publicly saying they were 'soft'. No good coach ever does that.

3 - He told the fans 'to get a life'. Given his 'success' so far he needs fan support more than anything but he gave it away with one 'cheap shot' remark.

During my business career I have seen several instances where circumstances come together and produce an unexpected result. For example, sometimes unqualified people are promoted because at the time they seemed like the only choice or their outstanding performance was largely due to forces outside their control. Mr. Rodriguez had the good fortune to have two great quarterbacks and I think he 'rode that horse' as far as he could.

Finally, I loss all confidence in his coaching skills after the Toledo game. Do you realize there are players on the Toledo team which probably DIDN'T start in high school !! If you can't take a bunch of blue chippers from across the US and beat a bunch of locals from Toledo then in my opinion you can't coach.

While we wait out this disaster, all I can say is... GO BLUE!

Dear RichardinPasadena,

I can't believe you spent that much time writing that crap. First, do you think WV and LA have anything in common. What about the fanbases and overall intellect levels? Not really seeing how there is any comparison there.

Second, have you seen some of the players Lloyd left us with. Bong smoking Ryan Mallett, pizza eating Alex Mitchell and Justin Boren, and thug Carson Butler. And that's just a few. But hey, if you want 7-5 with the same old, same old, that's at best what we would have been this year.

Third, he told people like you to get a life. He's right.

You think the starters at Toledo didn't start in high school? Okay. So you're nuts. End of conversation. Get a life.

Here Here.

I am continually amazed by the negative rancor of many fans bandwagon or otherwise, that would rather skewer coach Rodriguez. I mean seriously, after the first three games people were calling for his head on a platter...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I've been an Ohio-born die hard Michigan fan for almost 30 years and I have never seen or read the likes of what I'm seeing or reading now!

Please fans, do your homework and put all the wistful thoughts for bygone days, the Michigan tradition arrogance and emotional pettiness aside and use your God-given intellect. Rich Rodriguez has been successful everywhere he's gone and this will be no exception. No team is immune from tough seasons, not even the bucknuts in Columbus. Not to worry, their time is coming and when it does...they will hear the same nonsense that I'm hearing now, and most likely much, much worse.

Michigan is committed to coach Rodriguez for the long haul and believe me, they knew exactly what they were getting in a proven winner...but not after some short-term pain. You cannot judge a book by its cover, nor can you judge a coach on one season, especially if its a monumental shift in direction as this coaching change is.

Patience friends...this too shall pass and the University of Michigan will return to football prominence once again and soon. And when it does, the rest of the Big Ten and the country will shudder at the powerhouse it will show itself to be.

Hang in there folks,

Scott
Longtime UM Fan in hostile territory

Well, thankfully Paul Wright has no say on coaching decisions.
