Prof. Greene is a man that actually cares about his students. How many other Professors here at U of M take the time to talk to you, write you letters of rec if you ask, help with Law school, go over your grades? None! Greene is the only one who took the time to get to know his students. If anything, Greene is a teacher I wish there were more of at the University.

Poor research skills Daily...Greene was deathly ill when this story was aired. I am ashamed of the blatant oversight the editors of the Daily just showed the University, they can't even research simple issues.

This story has generated many emotions.Larry Greene's family members were angered by the timing of the Ch-7 11-17-08 @11pm story, which we aired after UM-PR told us Greene was hospitalized and very ill. Some students felt he was a good teacher, while many others felt his classes were a waste of time and money. The family told us there were many good contributions Greene made to students and others, and that we should have waited until he passed away to air the story.
What all who would be displeased in any way with channel seven should know...we saw the faces, and heard the anguish of Greene victims, and many more of them than we could not show in the story. This man used a state licence and law degree to take hundreds of thousands of dollars from people who trusted him, who needed his help in some cases to keep their freedom. Many remain incarcerated because Greene didn't bother to do the basics, the minimum. One man we didn't mention spent 26 years in prison for a crime he did not commit.Ask him if we were fair. The attorney grievance commission, state bar and otheres should also be held accountable.I also sat in half a class he 'taught'.I'd want my money back, too.

I am in Greene's Judicial Decision Making class this semester and I was deeply saddened to see these allegations emerge. He was a solid lecturer and brought in some rather impressive speakers, including one judge that was on the board that heard all of the complaints filed about every single judge in Michigan. Though she wasn't on the Bar's committee, you'd think she and the 6 other federal/state judges he had lecture us would have heard any of the complaints about him.

I am more disappointed with the University in this situation. Why was there no background check at all that would reflect ANY of these allegations? Additionally, they have deemed it appropriate to erase the ENTIRE semester's content (a waste of the students' time) and grace us with 6 random lectures on equality in judicial decision making (another waste of both the department and the students' time). The U can be sure there will be complaints at the end of the semester when students are dissatisfied. I know I am.

Greene is a brilliant professor, who cares deeply about his students and the University. His actions while undoubtedly wrong took place over 25 years ago. Is it so hard to believe that he has reformed himself and is now teaching students not to make the same mistake. Why are people clammoring for his lynching now?
Furthermore to the student quoted in the article who said that he had asked Greene for a letter of recommendation for Law school and is now glad that he didn't- If you are so easily swayed by one pop media story- that was done as a switch and bait AND did almost NO research, perhaps you should reconsider law school... I hear deductive reasoning is pretty popular in school and you obviously lack it. Why don't you ask how many people Greene has actually gotten INTO law school. You may be surprised.

Maybe it is just me, but the idea that Channel 7 would run this story while the man is so ill is cowardly and down right despicable. On the same note though, calling a man in the hospital while he is ill to see if he will comment on a story like this... Seriously? That was the brilliant idea of Michigan students? That was deemed a compassionate act, or decent journalism? What are the standards now?
Has anyone contacted the Greene family? To see how they feel about this? Has anyone talked to the LSA- Political Science Dept. How about his grad students and interns? Huh, I guess not.

I am, after reading this article actually ashamed to be a Michigan student.

I have to agree.. It seems like there was no research done for this article... Perhaps Jenna Skoller and Eshwar Thirunavukkarasu, did not feel up to the task of actually working on this article and were content to just copy almost verbatim from the channel 7 clip.
Also, I am shocked, dismayed and disgusted that the best they could do was find two students who did not think he was a good professor, did they even consider that there might be more to the story? Obviously not.
Furthermore Professor Greene resigned prior to the showing of this program because as has been stated he is seriously ill and fighting for his life.. Something that has impacted him this semester. I am personally disgusted with the Daily for covering this crap. I actually had expected more from it then channel 7. I suppose I was wrong.

I am shocked by the research that was done by the writers of this article! If they would have done their research, they would have found that Prof. Greene did not step down because of these allegations or because he is "seriously injured," but because he is deathly ill. You also would have discovered that Prof. Greene was not only a great teacher but also provided students with judicial internships and would always helps students in any way he could.

I suggest the that writers of this article stop stealing "news" from channel 7 and actually do some work and research on their own.

That Larry Greene was disbarred twice and has a shady history is not news to most grad students and staff in the Political Science department. Most of us have been wondering for quite a while why he was still (or ever) lecturing for the University. He was always very flirty with young women, and often gave them priority in working for him. His office door was always closed, even when with a student. This last point is quite disturbing to most instructors, as we know full well that one should always keep the door open when with a student for our own safety and theirs (if only to maintain the look of propriety). For those of us who have been around this man on a consistent basis, we are both saddened for our department and relieved that the truth of his disturbing background has come to light.

The one class I had with Greene was a disaster. Never have I seen a professor come in so unprepared, deal with his students so unprofessionally.

And he outsourced his grading to a GSI, who subjected us to much higher standards that Greene. We'd "appeal" our grades to him -- and he'd almost always give you an A if you asked for one.

He also flirted, blatantly, with the hot girls. It was creepy to watch.

Greene is a great Professor and a kind human being. These allegations occurred over a decade ago. There is nothing newsworthy about this story. His past disciplinary record with the State Bar has nothing to do with his ability to teach and was a matter of public record when he was hired by The U of M. The fact that they would run this story while he has been in the Hospital for the last two weeks is shameful. Greene did not quit the semester because of these ridiculous accusations, he quit because he is deathly ill.

Greene was a fantastic professor who was both fair-minded and knowledgeable. I'm shocked and dismayed at the rats jumping from a sinking ship here, running to seem like they "know all along".

He was, is and will continue to be a great professor and a great guy!

There is only one explanation for this in my mind -- the man is brilliant, but flaky and forgetful. He easily lets papers slip beneath each other on his desk and in his notes. As far as I'm concerned he's a brilliant legal mind who was always more cut out for the classroom than the courtroom --- where mistakes and forgetfulness aren't so harshly judged.

Let me first start off by saying that Lawrence Greene is a DOUCHEBAG, grade A Douchebag. And that is how Greene would start every sentence that came out of his mouth - "Let me first start off by saying..."

Unfortunately, this is the way he will be known - his breach of ethics and professionalism. Go to jail, Greene and think about it...douche.

Prof. Greene was a great teacher in Terrorism, War, and Due Process. He was also very influential in my getting into and going to graduate school (not law). Shocking and sad to see this, but I am extremely grateful for the impact he had on my life and on the lives of some of my friends. What he did was undoubtedly wrong, but I hope it is not what he is remembered for.

I wonder how he managed to get a Senator, Congressman, and many federal and local judges to come talk to us in his classes,if he is in fact as shady as the report alleged.

Didn't these judges and politicians know about his record?

If anyone wants to verify the revocation of his license to practive law can do so at http://www.adbmich.org. Also, the fact that the University had no comment suggests that they knew. It also calls into question the integrity of the school and the credentials of all of the faculty. How many other "Lawrence Greene's" are teaching at U of M?

Maybe it was just me, but although I felt Greene was sometimes a bit bumbling in what he did, he really did know what he was talking about and seemed like a general stand up guy.

He got me an immediate override into his class, he helped me get an internship, and he was always willing to talk if I wanted to.

Its sad that this article really only seems to show one side of him. Has he been deemed guilty before the trial has even begun?
