I don't have any problem with this policy. It existed when I was a student 40 years ago and there were always things you could do to get your schedule worked out. In most cases students who needed a course to graduate or to fulfill other priorities received preference. Now if they could control what happens once some of the athletes do once they get in these courses, that's another issue which needs more consideration.

After hearing this, I am so glad I'm going to Caltech for graduate school, where the basketball win-loss record is 1-24. If I want to watch basketball, I'll watch the NBA, school is for education, this administration's priorities are all messed up.

You're right; athletes are way more important than students in ROTC or other students that this university is training to run/defend this country, research the most important advances of the coming century, and teach our children.

As long we have football, we'll be ok, right?

Are you people kidding? Is it really that big of a deal that athletes have priority scheduling? Athletes give so much to this school. The least we can do is give them priority scheduling so that they can attend games and practice with their teams. Simply put, it is a logistical nightmare to try to coordinate schedules of a large team if their is no priority scheduling. This is not an "inequality issue". Find something else to b!tch about.

Are you suggesting athletes aren't "real" students? What are "real" students? The ones that take every opportunity to complain about student life?

For the record, I am not and have never been a collegiate athlete.

I wish I were a tenured professor here so that I could tell the administration to fix this absurdity. This is freakin' ridiculous. I find it hard to respect this is an institution of higher education given that it apparently respects its athletes more than its real students.

That's pretty f-ed up.
