Student high-rise plans tabled after revision

Dan Ketelaar, one of the developers of 601 Forest, is the individual who claimed his high rise would "drain" students from surrounding homes. Residents of surrounding neighborhoods do recognize that his is a "by right" plan, but they do not concur with his assumption. First, because this is not university affiliated housing, rentals could not be restricted to students. Second, because Mr. Ketelaar specifically plans to target the most affluent 10% of students at U of M, it is unlikely that students living in more affordable housing in the area will choose to pay more than $1,000 per bed per month (parking not included).
The South University and North Burns Park Neighborhood Associations welcome the responsible students who live among, and often with them.
These associations fully support the construction of new housing at South U and Forest, but housing that respects the scale and the character of the people who walk, work, and live in the area.

Just for the record.... "Lucacris" would be the rapper. LUDICROUS would be 'provoking or deserving derision.'

MSA's "Ludacris issue" was three years ago :)

The neighborhood resident's dont understand that the developer could have gone ahead with their original plans without any input from them at all since the original design met the zoning for the site.

These burns park residents who oppose the construction fo this building are also the same ones who complain that the student ghetto is spreading farther into their neighborhood.

Talk about a classic case of wanting their cake and eating it too.

As for MSA being against this development, that's a whole different ludacris issue, but since MSA and those who participate in it are a joke (hint: resume padders and people with an overinflated sense of self worth, who get outraged by the ridiuclous issues such as IM sports scoring, but completely ignore issues such as the rising costs of tuition.)

This development = good for all parties involved.
