McCain makes stop in Michigan to talk energy, economy

aw crud, sorry Alum, I'm the one who read your comment wrong. A long day fighting the smears has my eyes a little crossed...

Hey Alum,

I just checked your own source;

I'll assume you just read it wrong--you gotta check your facts better, at least read your own sources! Otherwise it would seem like part of the smear campaign I keep hearing the McCain supporters are perpetrating. You're better than that.

From your cited source:

We spoke with Len Berman, director of the nonpartisan Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, which has produced one of the most authoritative analyses of the two candidates’ tax plans. When we asked him if Obama’s claim that he would “cut taxes for 95 percent of all working families” was true, Berman told FactCheck.org that it was “consistent with our estimates.” Overall, the TPC found that Obama’s plan would produce a tax cut for 81.3 percent of all households, and a cut for 95.5 percent of all households with children.
Under Obama's plan, the TPC estimates that people (or couples) making between $37,595 and $66,354 a year would see an average savings of $1,118 on their taxes.

Under McCain's plan, on the other hand, those same individuals would save $325 on average — $793 less than the average savings under Obama's plan.

I think it is HILARIOUS how all of the Democrats are freaking out about Sarah Palin. They realize that she is a major advantage for the Republicans and that's what really scares them. They way they'd like to spin the facts, a Senator from Rhode Island would have less experience than a Senator from California because of the number of people they represent! Last I checked, Obama has dealt his fair share of insults to Palin as well. The way I see it - tooth for tooth, eye for eye. She actually has a great record of reform. How's that for negative? And now for my final plee. It scares the life out of me that there is a possibility of someone so unexperienced attaining the highest office in our great country. He has been in the US Senate for less than four years (most of which was spent campaigning) and people are seriously considering electing him to a four year term. It scares me. THE WHITE HOUSE IS NOT A LEARNING EXPERIENCE!

Mike, please check your facts:

So that would explain why Obama voted to raise taxes on those making only $38,000? Obama believes in the Socialist principle of redistribution of the wealth. Obama will raise taxes drastically on all. You still didn't address why he won't drill for oil to solve the energy crisis. He just things we should inflate our tires. I guess he wants us to keep giving money to his terrorist buddies overseas.

On a separate note, the Michigan Daily shouldn't have censored the Ramadan comment page. They closed that thread. How cowardly of them.

John McCain leads Obama 54% to 44%.

Maybe it isn't a good idea to run an issueless campaign of hope and change and maybe it is a good idea to drill for oil.

Both Sarah Palin and John McCain need to brush up on their science - especially physics. Last time I checked, there is no natural law that enables anyone (not even "Maverick" republicans) to "create more energy," as Palin suggested we do to solve the energy crisis in her speech Wednesday. Energy can't be created or destroyed, it can only be transfered. Seriously, can we get some learned people up in office?

I think that as long as Palin continues to insult the electorate and the opposition, she shows her true colors. She is a negative influence in politics, and brings nothing to the leadership that we so desparately need. She is a disgrace, quite frankly. I have never seen anybody so insulting to such a large segment of the population who is trying to obtain high office. Arrogant, ignorant, and scary--all wrapped into a presentable former beauty queen. Is this what it's come to?

Also, though everybody wants to live in the illusion of lower taxes, how in the world will we continue as a society in supporting each other, providing needed services like military and road work, foreign assistance, etc etc while the revenue base continues to go down with lowered stocks and capital gains, more unemployed, social security and medicare, and so on? Where do these people think the revenue is going to come from? And if the answer is to support less public programs, I would like to know how we will be able to look at each other in the eye?

Oh, I forgot--we won't have to. We can just continue to be insulted and denigrated by Sarah Palin.

"Also, though everybody wants to live in the illusion of lower taxes, how in the world will we continue as a society in supporting each other"

Is that why Obama wants to give $732 billion of our tax dollars to other countries that hate us? I don't know about you, but I'd rather keep that money. Obama voted to raise the taxes of people making only $38,000 a year. HOPE! CHANGE! MORE TAXES!
