March Madness doesn't exist in Ann Arbor. This is nothing new. It's like me telling you the sky is blue or Michigan State fans like to riot. But why should a March without madness automatically be one filled with sadness? Sure, Michigan fans have to look back a decade to find a time its team made the NCAA Tournament, and even then it didn't officially count.

The Buckeyes thought they had it.
The No. 7 Ohio State men's gymnastics team had beaten the Wolverines three years running, and looked to be clawing its way to a comeback at Cliff Keen Arena on Saturday night.
But the fifth-ranked Wolverines knew the meet was theirs.

It began slowly in the back of the team bus, a few voices joining in with Journey's "Don't Stop Believing." Riding back from a defeat at Illinois on March 9, the Michigan men's gymnastics team suddenly decided it was time to sing.
Within minutes, a team-wide karaoke party was in full swing.

When raucous cheering could be heard through the walls of the locker room yesterday morning, it was clear that the Michigan hockey team's weekend couldn't have gone much better.
On Saturday night, the Wolverines hoisted the Mason Cup, given to the winner of the CCHA playoffs, for the first time since 2005 after shutting down the nation's top-ranked offense, Miami (Ohio).

The last time the Michigan softball team played four consecutive contests against ranked opponents, it came out wounded with a 1-3 record.
Two years later at the same tournament - the Judi Garman Classic - No. 6 Michigan flipped the script going 3-1.
"We came out and showed that we're a ranked team as well," Michigan coach Carol Hutchins said.

COLUMBUS - A 66-length race couldn't have been any closer.
After the first 500 yards of the 1,650-yard freestyle, Michigan junior Emily Brunemann led North Carolina's Whitney Sprague by two-hundredths of a second. After jumping off the blocks, Brunemann held a narrow lead and looked determined to cap off an undefeated season in the mile and earn her first national title at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

COLUMBUS - Senior Justine Mueller loves to play catch-up.
But in her final 200-yard breaststroke race as a Wolverine, it wasn't necessary.
Typically a late charger, Mueller exploded off the starting blocks in the consolation final at the NCAA Championships on Saturday and took an early lead in the first length.

The No. 14 Michigan men's tennis team's only senior showcased his experience on Friday in Michigan's 5-2 win over Wisconsin.
Michigan (3-0 Big Ten, 12-2 overall) fought through several tight matches in the victory, but senior Matko Maravic's singles competition was the most dramatic.

Five times, Michigan redshirt junior Steve Luke struggled to his feet in an attempt to break the hold of Pittsburgh's Keith Gavin.
Five times, the top-seeded Gavin calmly tripped him back to the mat, refusing to jeopardize his 3-1 lead in the final period of their 174-pound NCAA championship match.
