AAPD Sgt. Matt Lige said shortly after noon on Thursday, a construction worker reported that he had seen a vehicle in a heavily wooded area near the Penske Truck Rental lot off of Plymouth Road. When police approached the car, they found a deceased body.
Police had initially reported that the body was found inside the car, though it was later reported that it was found outside the vehicle. Lige said police are classifying the incident as a fatal car crash involving a single car, and do not believe any “suspicious” activity was involved in the death.
Initially, Lige said AAPD would not be releasing the name of the victim until it has notified relatives were notified. Police have still not released the victim’s name, but in a later interview, Lige confirmed that the victim was a male. He added that investigators could not immediately identify the body.
It’s not yet clear whether the victim is affiliated with the University.
