This year’s race for the Democratic nomination in Ward 2 almost appears to have an incumbent. It pits long-time politician Tony Derezinski, endorsed by Congressman John Dingell, State Representative Pam Byrnes and Mayor John Heiftje, against Stewart Nelson, a retired Northwest pilot who takes pride in being at odds with Heiftje and much of the council.
