Katrina Mann"s viewpoint ("Anti-Choice terrorism," 10/31/01) is full of ignorance and inaccuracies. First, she insinuates that the pro-life movement supports and even condones the extremely rare actions of a few on the radical fringe. This is absolutely untrue. Furthermore, extreme individual acts of violence can never be used to stereotype a whole group of people. If it is wrong to stereotype all Muslims as terrorists, then it is just as false to equate all pro-lifers with violence.

Second, the absolutist position Mann takes declaring that there is no link between abortion and breast cancer is misleading. In fact, there is much conflicting evidence in this area of concern. For instance, the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, an international women"s group, reports that 28 out of the 37 studies conducted thus far show a link between induced abortion and a significant increase in risk of developing breast cancer.

Third, Mann purposely misrepresents the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform"s Reproductive "Choice" Campaign involving mobile trucks featuring large images of aborted babies. The pictures depicted first trimester abortions in total accuracy. They are not pictures of third trimester abortion victims or pictures of miscarried babies. CBR is currently suing a number of organizations that have made this false claim. Fourth, her statement, "the number of Planned Parenthood"s patients receiving pre-natal care double those seeking abortion" is a blatant lie.

In truth, according to Planned Parenthood"s own 1998-99 Annual Report 80 percent of patients seeking pre-natal care from Planned Parenthood are referred to another organization while 80 percent of those patients seeking abortion from Planned Parenthood get their abortion at the Planned Parenthood clinic!

Additionally, according to the 1998-99 Annual Report, referrals for abortion at Planned Parenthood clinics out number patients who end up choosing adoption 60 to 1. Finally, Mann"s defense of Planned Parenthood is disgusting. This organization, founded by the eugenicist and white supremacist Margaret Sanger, is an international organization that wages a subtle international "war" on Third World peoples and minorities in the western world. While the people who run Planned Parenthood are mostly white, affluent upper-middle class feminists and wealthy doctors, the majority of the people they target for their "services" is the exact opposite.

Again, in its own 1997-98 Annual Report, Planned Parenthood describes its core clients as "young, low income, and women of color." In fact, Planned Parenthood is proud of the fact that over two-thirds of its abortion clinics are in predominately African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods. It is clear that this organization is responsible for keeping the birth rates of these communities down through systematic murder in the womb. Who are the real terrorists and manipulators in the abortion debate? You decide.
